Harry-Caray-Holy-Cow

Holy Cow BBQ will open its doors this Saturday, September 13, across from the Brentwood Country Mart.

The new joint is the brainchild of Rob Serritella of Los Feliz’s Messhall Kitchen.

It’s unclear what style of BBQ it will be serving, but judging from the massive menu, BBQ is just one of many options. There are burgers, salmon, salads, soups, and the one I’m most excited for, a daily frozen custard. It’s hard enough to do BBQ right, let alone a slew of other menu options. If Serritella and Co. believe they can do it, hats off to them, but I’m skeptical to say the least.

We’ll have to wait a weekend to find out how they fare, because the BBQ Desert team will be traveling to the BBQ Promised Land of Austin, TX, for the Texas Monthly BBQ Festival this weekend (jealous?).

It will be a hard task for any joint to follow TMBBQ Fest, and hopefully, Holy Cow’s up to the challenge. Good ‘Q right by home would be the ultimate find here in the desert.

Stay strong, fellow wanderers. I still have faith we’ll find salvation soon. Until then, stay strong.
